Privacy Changes Leave Many Instagram Influencer Apps in the Dark

· Instagram,influencer marketing

Over the past several weeks the world of Instagram influencers has completely turned upside down. Following the Facebook and Cambridge Analytica debacle, user data privacy concerns have left many startups dependent on Instagram’s API in the dark. Literally overnight many of growing analytics, growth and affiliate linking apps stopped working.

Many startups and agencies have been affected by the sudden restricted access to the public API that took place a little over a week ago leaving many third- party apps like WEBSTA, broken - worthless to users.

WEBSTA was a platform that helped marketers understand their Instagram community, better engage with their followers and find new potential fans on Instagram. As of last week, they issued this letter to all of the users via email:

Dear WEBSTA users,

Serving you on your Instagram journey was indeed an amazing experience. However, due to Instagram's data usage policy (on April 4th), our service is no longer useful as it used to be to our subscribers. For this reason, we decided to stop our WEBSTA service soon.

We have been passionately providing multiple services through WEBSTA for over 7 years to help you find Instagram more fun and exciting. It saddens us to stop our service. However, we would be continually be seeking ways to serve you again in the future.

We will delete all your information stored in our server as we close the WEBSTA to keep you secured.

Thank you so much for trusting our service. We value you as part of us and we look forward to partner with you again soon.

Thank you for using WEBSTA.

So what’s next? Sit tight. If your 3rd party service is still working, than great! For many others, you just may have to go back to posting directly through the app during peak times for maximum impact!
